Buyers ‘Love’ Lily Collins, Sam Claflin Romantic Comedy
Romantic comedy “Love, Rosie,” starring Lily Collins and Sam Claflin, has been sold to a swathe of new territories by David Garrett’s Mister Smith Entertainment.Pic is produced by Germany’s Constantin Film (“Resident Evil,” “The Mortal Instruments”) and toplines hot up and comers. Collins, who previously starred in “Mirror, Mirror,” is the lead of the “The Mortal Instruments” franchise, while Claflin limns the key character of Finnick in the next two installments of “The Hunger Games.”
They play star-crossed young lovers who strike up a deep friendship at high school but are constantly separated, frustrating true love.
Buyers striking pacts include West Video (CIS), Media Pro (Czech Republic, Bulgaria and Romania), Monolith (Poland), Blitz Film (Croatia and Slovenia), Greece (Odeon), Portugal (Zon Lusomundo), Fida (Turkey), Benelux (eOne), Iceland (Samfilm), the Middle East (Jaguar Film), Israel (United King Films) and the Baltic states (Acme Film).
Asian territories onboard include Hong Long (Golden Scene), the Philippines (Pioneer Films), Malaysia (Golden Screen), Singapore (The Shaw Organization), Thailand (Sahamongkolfilm), Vietnam (Galaxy Studio), Taiwan (Long Shong) and Indonesia (P.T. Amero).
As previously announced, Constantin Film will distribute in Germany, with Lionsgate distribbing in the U.K., Imagem in Latin America and Svensk in Scandinavia.
Principal lensing begins this week in Toronto, then moves to Dublin for the rest of the shoot, aiming for a 2014 release.
Christian Ditter (“The Crocodiles”) helms from a screenplay by Juliette Towhidi (“Calendar Girls”), adapting “P.S. I Love You” novelist Cecelia Ahern’s second novel, “Where Rainbows End.” Ahern is repped by Marianne Gunn O’Conner.

Christian Cooke Joins Lily Collins in ‘Love, Rosie’
“Romeo & Juliet” thesp Christian Cooke is stepping into a more modern romantic love story, coming aboard to co-star with Lily Collins and Sam Claflin in the indie “Love, Rosie.”Christian Ditter is helming, with Tamsin Egerton also attached to the project.
The film is based on the Cecelia Ahern tome and revolves around two best friends whose relationship is tested when one of them moves from Dublin to America.
The pic is a Canyon Creek Films production, with Simon Brooks and Robert Kulzer producing.
Cooke most recently played Mercutio in “Romeo and Juliet,” starring Hailee Steinfeld, and can be seen on the Starz skein “Magic City.” He also stars in the Paramount pic “Destination Wedding.
He is repped by WME, United Agents and Management 360.

Tamsin Egerton joining Sam Claflin and Lily Collins in "Love, Rosie"British up and comer Tamsin Egerton has joined Sam Claflin and Lily Collins in romantic comedy “Love, Rosie”, according to Britain’s The Daily Mail.
Collins and Claflin play best friends and star-crossed lovers in the film based on the novel “Where Rainbows End” by Cecelia Ahern, who also wrote “P.S. I Love You.” Christian Ditter directs the film which follows Collins’ Rosie and Clafin’s Alex on the cusp of heading off to college. When she gets pregnant unexpectedly, she urges him to go without her and the film chronicles their lives over the next 12 years. No word on who Egerton will play, but filming begins in May.

Lily Collins, Sam Claflin Board Romantic Comedy ‘Love, Rosie’
David Garrett’s Mister Smith Entertainment will debut Love, Rosie at the European Film Market this week in Berlin. Principal photography starts in May on the project, based on the novel Where Rainbows End by P.S. I Love You author Cecelia Ahern. Calendar Girls‘ Juliette Towhidi wrote the script and German helmer Christian Ditter (Wickie And The Treasure Of The Gods, French For Beginners) is directing.
Lily Collins plays Rosie in the romantic comedy with Sam Claflin as her best friend and star-crossed lover, Alex. The pair are planning to head to the States for college together when Rosie discovers she’s pregnant after a crazy night out with the most popular boy in school. She encourages Alex to go without her and over the next 12 years their lives change but an undeniable connection remains.
Mister Smith, the finance and licensing joint-venture between Garrett and Constantin Film, is handling international sales. Constantin’s Robert Kulzer and Canyon Creek Films’ Simon Brooks are producing, with Constantin head of film & TV, Martin Moszkowicz, exec producing. Collins is represented by CAA and Claflin is co-represented by CAA and London-based Independent Talent Group. Ahern is repped by Marianne Gunn O’Connor Creative Agency; Ditter by ICM Partners and Germany’s Above The Line; and Towhidi by Casarotto Ramsay & Associates Limited.
