In April, she got a call asking her to star in Love, Rosie, a film based on Cecelia Ahern's second novel, Where Rainbows End.

Hunger Games actor Sam Claflin and Lily Collins of The Blind Side are among the cast.

Chelsea recalled: "Louise Kiely was the casting director. I went for the audition and they gave me a call back.

"I'm playing the part of one of Susie Waterhouse's bitchy friends.

"It was a really, really good experience. We filmed in May - it was brilliant but also rather scary!

"I was nervous at the start, being around all these A-listers but I loved it, I could have stayed 24 hours a day."

Filming took place in various locations around Dublin, including the National Museum and Smithfield.

"Cecelia has a cameo at the end – her first ever one. This book was one that was closer to her heart.

"Her books seem to catch directors with huge budgets.

"Lily Collins is such an it-girl at the moment in LA."

Love, Rosie is set for Irish and UK release on February 14.

Suki Waterhouse talks about filming 'Love, Rosie'

Suki Waterhouse (Bethany in 'Love, Rosie') talks about her on set experience. :)

"Love Rosie was the first big feature I've done," she said.

"I was here for two months filming. So I was thrown in the deep end. I was very nervous at the beginning but it was an incredible experience."

The film was based on Cecelia's best-seller Where Rainbows End.

"I hadn't read the book before we started filming, but Cecelia was on set one day and gave me a signed copy, which was lovely. I have such massive respect for her."

Londoner Suki plays Bethany in the up-coming romantic comedy.

"She's not nasty but she's very feisty and competitive," Suki said.

"She's the popular girl in school and can be mean.

"I found it really enjoyable playing someone a bit obnoxious."

The film is set across several decades and Suki, who is best friends with model of the moment Cara Delevingne, said she loved dressing up in retro clothes.

"All the cast got together and had a brainstorming session about the clothes -- some of the film was set in 2002 and there were lots of Britney style crop tops.

"I really loved filming in Dublin...."

"Where Rainbows End was titled Love, Rosie in the US and it’s about two childhood friends Rosie and Alex who manage to stay in contact throughout their lives, tied together by immense friendship and love for each other, they see and support one another throughout their ups and downs – always wondering where life will take them, and though life takes them in very different directions their bond always succeeds in keeping them together.

I’m so excited that this is being turned into a film, I adore these characters and their stories and while I’ve been onset I’ve wanted to stand up and shout “JUST GET TOGETHER!” But that would get me fired off the set and so I’ll leave that up to you to shout when you see it in the cinema."

Bestselling author Cecelia Ahern will make her big-screen debut in the movie adaptation of her book 'Where Rainbows End'.

The mother of two will join the cast of 'Love Rosie' today at Powerscourt Gardens in Enniskerry, Co Wicklow, to shoot scenes for a wedding between two of the characters.

Ms Ahern (31) will have a cameo role as a guest at the ceremony. "I said I'd never do it because I'm not good on camera, so I hope I don't do something stupid," she said.

"I've never wanted to be in front of the camera, I've always wanted to be on the other side of it, but I thought that down the line it would be nice to see my head sticking up somewhere."

'Love Rosie' tells the story of Rosie and Alex, who have been best friends since childhood. American actress Lily Collins has been cast in the female lead opposite Sam Claflin.

This is the second book of Ms Ahern's that has been adapted for film. In 2007 Hilary Swank and Scottish actor Gerard Butler starred in 'PS I Love You'.

The Dublin-based author, who insisted that a large part of 'Love Rosie' be shot in Ireland, admitted she still finds it strange seeing her work acted out on screen.

"I get so emotional watching it and listening to it. It's bizarre, but it's been brilliant how they've re-created it all," said Ms Ahern, who was speaking yesterday at the launch of a Barretstown charity fundraising campaign.

"I'm all about change for the screen. You have to be true to the book in keeping the heart and message, but you have to bring in a whole new flavour to it, so I embrace that."

The daughter of former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern wants the public to donate €2 by texting WAND to 50300 to allow Barretstown to continue supporting children living with serious illness.

Article about the filming in Portmarnock Strand (May 24)

The sand dunes were awash with big names yesterday as filming of Cecelia Ahern movie Love Rosie came to Portmarnock Strand.

But while Hunger Games star Sam Claflin and Lily Collins kissed for the cameras, keeping an eye on the action was novelist Cecelia (31), husband David Keoghan (34), sister Georgina Ahern (33) and her husband, former Westlife star Nicky Byrne (34).

"Typical Ireland, the sun was shining but there was one hell of wind blowing. The crew were doing their best to keep the breeze off Sam and Lily shooting their scenes," a source on set told the Herald.

ROMANTIC

Craning to hear every word was Mr Keoghan, who was studiously listening in on a headphone feed.

The father-of-two has already been cast in one of two Cecelia-scripted TV films being made by German channel ZDF in Dublin this summer.

But yesterday he was keen to see how Hollywood filmmakers bring his wife's stories to the big screen.

Based on her novel Where Rainbows End, the romantic comedy stars Sam and Lily as characters Rosie and Alex, star-crossed young lovers who strike up a deep friendship at high school, but who are constantly separated, thwarting their hopes of true love. Their hopes and dreams told in a series of emails, notes and letters they exchange.

After shooting in Toronto, the production moved to Dublin with filming continuing around the capital until mid-July.

After filming was over, cast and crew retired to the nearby Portmarnock Hotel and Golf Links behind the dunes for refreshments.

Love Rosie will be the English-language debut of German director Christian Ditter, with Cecelia's novel adapted for the screen by Juliette Towhidi, who scripted hit movie Calendar Girls.

It is due out next year.

The two German films Zwischen Himmel Und Hier (Between Heaven and Here) and Mein Ganzes Halbes Leben (My Whole Half Life) are based on original ideas from Cecelia.

Cecelia meets stars who are bringing her characters to life

It is always unsettling to come face to face with the characters you have created.

So novelist Cecelia Ahern admitted she was "emotional" meeting the leads in the forthcoming film version of her book, Where Rainbows End.

In the romantic comedy, Lily Collins and Hunger Games star Sam Claflin play characters Rosie and Alex, the star-crossed young lovers who strike up a deep friendship at high school but are constantly separated.

Shooting on the production has already begun in Toronto, but writer Cecelia caught up with the cast members as they rehearsed their parts in Dublin last week.

"It was very emotional for Cecelia because she dreamt up the characters of Rosie and Alex and here they were in the flesh. She just couldn't believe how well Sam and Lily had lifted them from the pages of her book," said a source.

Returning to film in Dublin for the remainder of the six-week shoot, the feature will be one of three Ahern productions shooting in Dublin.

German TV channel ZDF are shooting two other scripts by the million-selling author as part of their Heart Cinema series.

"Cecelia wanted all three of these productions here in Ireland, so she's delighted to have all these crews in Ireland right now and that its a boost for the local film industry," added the insider.

And the work of her friend, acclaimed Meath-based sculptor Orla de Bri, will be seen by millions of TV viewers in Germany when it features in a scene in one of the ZDF dramas.

"Cecelia has always been very supportive of my work, and her mother Miriam, so it's wonderful she is showcasing my work this way," said Orla.

Lily Collins, Sam Claflin Board Romantic Comedy ‘Love, Rosie’

David Garrett’s Mister Smith Entertainment will debut Love, Rosie at the European Film Market this week in Berlin. Principal photography starts in May on the project, based on the novel Where Rainbows End by P.S. I Love You author Cecelia Ahern. Calendar Girls‘ Juliette Towhidi wrote the script and German helmer Christian Ditter (Wickie And The Treasure Of The Gods, French For Beginners) is directing.

Lily Collins plays Rosie in the romantic comedy with Sam Claflin as her best friend and star-crossed lover, Alex. The pair are planning to head to the States for college together when Rosie discovers she’s pregnant after a crazy night out with the most popular boy in school. She encourages Alex to go without her and over the next 12 years their lives change but an undeniable connection remains.

Mister Smith, the finance and licensing joint-venture between Garrett and Constantin Film, is handling international sales. Constantin’s Robert Kulzer and Canyon Creek Films’ Simon Brooks are producing, with Constantin head of film & TV, Martin Moszkowicz, exec producing. Collins is represented by CAA and Claflin is co-represented by CAA and London-based Independent Talent Group.
