Mister Smith rolls out 'Love, Rosie'

Lily Collins, Sam Claflin romcom sells 30 countries

Mister Smith has licensed the Constantin-produced romcom "Love, Rosie," with Lily Collins and Sam Claflin, to 30 countries -- one of fewer than a dozen high-profile sales hits at the European Film Market in Berlin.

"Love, Rosie," which debuted at Berlin, was brought onto the market just 10 days ago.

Helmed by Christian Ditter, "Love, Rosie" has closed Latin America (Imagem), Scandinavia (Svensk Filmindustri), Australia (Hoyts), Portugal (Lusomundo) and South Africa (Nu Metro Films), among early deals. A Lionsgate U.K. buy was reported last Thursday.

More sales look set to go down at Berlin Tuesday and also beyond the end of the Berlin fest, Mister Smith CEO David Garrett told Variety.

"Love, Rosie" is an adaptation of "P.S. I Love You" novelist Cecelia Ahern's second novel, "Where Rainbows End."

"It hits a very particular, targetable and marketable demographic, the 18-35 female audience," Garrett said.

"What's also very attractive about 'Love, Rosie' is that it has Lily Collins, the female lead of one of the two most hotly-anticipated franchises of the year, 'Mortal Instruments,' and Sam Claflin, the second male lead from the next two 'Hunger Games' movies.

"It's a great package from a marketing point of view. You have the dream couple."

Produced by Canyon Creek Films, "Love, Rosie" shoots from May.
